For all of you lovebirds out there, now would be a good time to start planning your Valentine's Day dinner menu: February 14 is coming very soon. Here are some Valentine's day dinner ideas, from a modern kale caesar to my foolproof method for cooking steak, to a roasted cauliflower dish, to a perfect flourless chocolate cake for dessert. Impress your boo on valentine's day, or any date night, with this easy, foodie menu!
Kale caesar salad
This is the best kale salad recipe – it’s a copycat of the Barbuto (RIP) kale salad, loaded with fluffy greens and salty, garlicky breadcrumbs, and it's perfect for a Valentine's Day homemade dinner. It comes together quickly in a food processor and is great in the depths of winter as well as in warmer weather. This kale salad is the least sad kale salad you’ll ever have – it’s truly my favorite.
Perfect steak
Here’s a recipe for a perfectly seared steak with rosemary butter. This is the easiest, most foolproof steak recipe — all you’re doing is pan searing it and topping it with butter and rosemary.
Roasted cauliflower
Inspired by chicken marbella from The Silver Palate, here is a vegetarian version of chicken marbella, using roasted cauliflower. It is sweet, salty and has some agrodolce vibes — sooo yummy! This could be a vegetarian main dish too if you're not feeling the steak for your Valentine's Day dinner.
Flourless chocolate cake
To close out this Valentine's Day dinner menu, make this flourless chocolate cake, which I call a fallen chocolate cake. It’s easy, gorgeous, rustic and elegant. Serve with ice cream. creme fraiche, or whipped coconut cream. This fallen chocolate olive oil cake will impress your boo without a doubt.
